Ian Rooney

Ian is passionate about challenging the way businesses look at packaging through the encouragement of holistic packaging design education and thinking.

He is the Senior Lecturer of Packaging Design at the Lahti Institute of Design. The Institute is one of the leading design institutions in Scandinavia and the packaging design department is considered to be a world leader in educating packaging designers.
Ian is also the Founder and Director of PACKLAB. which is the Finnish packaging design education centre that acts as the business face and community of the Packaging and Brand Design department. Through PACKLAB. Ian continues to attract business co-operation and build strong relationships with some of the leading companies in the world including: Coca-Cola, Nokia and Nestlé. This has had a direct benefit for both education and business, with student innovations successfully reaching and competing in the market. PACKLAB. students have worked with over 90 European and international businesses and since 2006 they have won 178 national, European and international awards.
